Now It's OK to Use
Your Sub in the Mix Once
you hear the difference, you’ll never go back. The SubTrap
is more than a simple isolation stand. In addition to isolation,
it absorbs excess bass and decouples room mode. The end result is
a unique product available only from ASC.
When your sub is part of the mix, playback quality
is vastly improved across all platforms. The richness of bass detail
translates into a better and fuller sound that says welcome to the
21st Century. The reason for this is because the SubTrap lets you
hear the sub-bass track clearly, without modal distortion or boomy
reverberation.
How it Works
Due to resonant modes, inherent in all small listening spaces, sonic
detail can get cancelled at certain frequencies. The result is what
we call “Room-Boom,” a muddled blur of sound instead
of detailed notes. This happens even though the subwoofer is producing
great bass and plenty of detail. Sadly, the rich sound never reaches
your ear due to room coloration. By raising the sub off the floor
and putting a SubTrap under it, the subwoofer is effectively decoupled
from the vertical room mode. Excess bass buildup is reduced and
the playback volume of the subwoofer can be turned back up in the
mix. The SubTrap is the latest member of the TubeTrap™ product
line by Acoustic Sciences Corporation. We have been providing acoustic
upgrades for high performance audio since 1984.
The
Bottom Line
If you have room to raise your sub off the floor, the ASC
SubTrap is for you. Available in two sizes, 18” and 22”.
Easy setup, just place the SubTrap under the subwoofer, and that’s
all there is to it. For more information regarding the SubTrap and
